October, 2006New titles announced by Blu: - "Innocent Bird" by Hirotaka Kisaragi Source: Yaoi Suki More license announcements from Yaoi Con: DramaQueen: Be Beautiful: Source: Yaoi Suki A new Nintendo DS game by TDK Core called Ciao Manga School (ちゃおまんがスクール) will be released on November 9th. The game is based on a popular how-to-draw-manga tutorial section featured in shojo manga anthology Ciao. The game, utilizing DS's touch screen, puts the player in the shoes of a girl who is trying to have her work published by Ciao. Source: Akadot According to an announcement (PDF), as of issue 11 (11/25), Media Works's seinen manga anthology Dengeki Teioh will cease publication. A trailer of the new Mushishi live-action film, starring Jo Odagiri and directed by Katsuhiro Otomo of AKIRA fame, is available on the film's official website (click the blue box to view the trailer). 801 Media has licensed a new yaoi license: Affair by Shiuko Kano. Conrad Publising will be releasing Battle Royale by Koushun Takami (story) and Masayuki Taguchi (art) in Brazil later this year. The controversial manga spans 15 volumes, and was originally a novel by Koushun Takami. Tokyopop is giving away 10 copies of Magic Moon vol. 1 autographed by Wolfgang Hohlbein, who co-wrote the series with his wife, Heike. Together, the Hohlbeins are one of Europe’s most prolific fantasy-writing teams." MangaCast is giving away a free copy of Reborn! to its MangaCasters. Two new artbooks from Takehiko Inoue (Slam Dunk, Vagabond) were released on October 23rd. The two artbooks, "WATER" and "Sumi," contain artwork from Takehiko's latest manga Vagabond. "WATER" is a collection of colored artworks, and "Sumi" is a collection of monochrome pictures. Each artbook contains different artworks. Manga top 10 according to Tohan. A new wine manga titled Sommelier by Matsui Katsunori, who usually goes by the pen name Kiyu, will start in Business Jump No. 23 (11/1). MangaZenkan.com, a online manga store known for its unique business of selling complete sets of old manga series, recently announced that they have sold more than 20,000 manga since they opened months ago. MangaZenkan.com, supported by TORICO, launched on August 1st earlier this year.
