Seven Seas has launched the "Are You An Otaku?" contest, where participants send in pictures of their collection to see who has the most "otaku" collection. Grand prize winner will receive "a one of a kind original full color I, Otaku illustration, drawn and signed by series creator Jiro Suzuki; Plus ten (10) of the latest Seven Seas manga, including I, Otaku: Struggle in Akihabara Vol. 1," while 10 runner-ups will received volume 1 of I, Otaku: Struggle in Akihabara.

topAccording to Kodokawa Shoten, thanks to the anime adaptation of Lucky ??? Star, various Lucky Star-related items have been enjoying a big boost in sales.

Lucky Star is a 4-koma by Kagami Yoshimizu serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Comptiq magazine (and later appeared in Shonen Ace). The manga was originally created as a filler comic, but the series soon became popular among fans, and was adapted into an anime in early 2007.

Yaoi Press has updated its blog a prototype of its recently announced Yaoi Parasol.

Earlier in July, Kanon Akamatsu, the cosplaying wife of Love Hina and Negima creator Ken Akamatsu, launched a new "Official Kanon Website" at kanon00.com. Various photos (including cosplay) are posted on the site. The site also links to Kanon Akamatsu's blog, where she talks about her experience with otaku, manga and Ken Akamatsu (The blog was opened in 2006, and managed to attract over 30,000 visitors a few months after its launch).

On the 17th of this month, a maid cafe in Thailand called "Akiba" closed permanently after being investigated by Thai officials a few months ago. Thai officials arrested the shop owner and another man for offering pornographic manga books in the shop, and also confiscated 200 volumes of manga. After the incident, the cafe's business experienced a rapid decline.
