According to Moon Phase, a new manga titled Lucky Star: Pocket Travelers (based on Lucky Star's "Lucky Channel") by Akari Ryuryuu will begin serialization in the January issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace (11/26).

topKadokawa Shoten's manga magazine Beans Ace will become a bi-monthly magazine as of volume 10.

Also, with the release of volume 3 of Houbunsha's manga magazine Comic Yell! (11/10), the magazine will become a bi-monthly magazine. The magazine is mentioned by the publisher as a "pure and cute shoujo manga magazine for males."

The first issue of a new cat manga magazine titled Neko Mero! will be released by Gentosha Comics on October 16th, 2007. The magazine will be published quarterly.

Canned Dogs is reporting that Kadokawa Shoten has delayed the releases of the manga version of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and volume 2 of School Days to an undetermined date due to the recent controversies involving both series' anime counterparts.

Kadokawa Group Holdings has revealed plans (PDF) for the consolidation of 2 of its affiliates, ASCII and MediaWorks. The merger is slated for April 1st, 2008.

No details have been decided yet, but the merged company will be called "ASCII Media Works Inc." The reason cited for the merger is to "consolidate resources, streamline the management structure and to become competitive." Also, it was mentioned that Kadokawa GHD decided to not include Enterbrain (another entertainment magazine publisher under Kadokawa who put out Comic Beam) in the merger with MediaWorks.

topAccording to Kodokawa Shoten, thanks to the anime adaptation of Lucky ??? Star, various Lucky Star-related items have been enjoying a big boost in sales.

Lucky Star is a 4-koma by Kagami Yoshimizu serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's Comptiq magazine (and later appeared in Shonen Ace). The manga was originally created as a filler comic, but the series soon became popular among fans, and was adapted into an anime in early 2007.

A new serialization titled Saruman 2.0 (????????????2.0) by Kentaro Takekuma and Aihara Kooji will begin in the December issue of Shogakukan's Ikki (10/25). The original Saruman, more commonly known as Even a Monkey Can Draw Manga, provides useful information and parodies about creating and analyzing manga stories in the manga industry.

Also starting in the same issue is a new manga titled Wired Apartment (??????????????? ???????????????) by Fujihiko Hosono, mangaka of Crusher Joe and Gallery Fake.

Heisei Democracy reports that the Queen's Blade series will be getting two manga adaptations, one in Kadokawa Shoten's Comp Ace (10/26) by Minasaki Iku, the other in MediaWorks' Dengeki Black Maoh (9/19) by Astroguy II.

Also, volume 6 of Young Animal Island (9/28) will contain a special feature on Kimikiss to promote the upcoming October airing of Kimikiss Pure Rouge.

topOn 9/1, the hosts of a Taiwanese variety show called "The Guess Show" (????????????????????????) introduced the light novel The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya as an adult light novel by saying it's "obviously H" and "so A[dult]," and went on to read out "adult scenes" from the book. The episode caused an uproar from the online community and the fans. The host's response was: "Obviously what I said weren't from the novel, I'm also a Haruhi fan, it's not my fault if they can't take a little joke." In the end, the show did not apologize.

A few days ago, Kadokawa Taiwan issued a statement explaining that the Haruhi novel is in fact not an adult novel, and asks the TV show to better organize its programs in order to avoid further confusion:
