Iris Print will be releasing a new BL anthology titled When Worlds Collide on October 20, 2006. The new anthology will contain five short comics in a manga-sized trade paperback, and is available for pre-ordered on Amazon.com or at the publisher’s web site.

A new light novel label from Enterbrain called B's-LOG Bunko will start next month (14/10/2006). This label will be aimed at female audience, and there will be BL light novels published under this label.

According to this post, uncollected chapters of CLAMP's X that did not make it into Tankobon format will appear in the upcoming CLAMP Newtype (PLATINUM) special issue of Newtype.

Shogakukan is set to release a retrospective of classic manga titles from 1945 to 2005, on October 30th. Titled The Encyclopedia of Contemporary Manga (English title: literal Japanese title is Modern Manga Museum), it introduces roughly 700 titles from 4 eras (1945-58, 59-69, 70-80, 81-2000 and 2001-2005) along with brief excerpts from the manga and publication data. It also includes a mangaka index, manga chronology and complete list of publishers' award winners.

From MangaCast comes the Diamond Previews for October 2006, which provides information on new U.S. releases for Dec 06-Jan 07.

Tatsuya Fujiwara (24), who plays the role of Light Yagami in the upcoming movie "Death Note - The Last Name," appeared at a DN press event held on 9/20. Despite the recent series of unfortunate events surrounding Death Note, the release date of the upcoming movie will not be affected -- not only will the movie premier in Japan on November 3rd, but it will also be released in Hong Kong and Taiwan on the same day.

On September 16, the Hong Kong government held a license plate auction, where a "GUNDAM" plate was sold for 110,000 Hong Kong Dollars (approximately 14,000 USD).

Other plates sold during the auction included "1 LOVE U", "HANDSOME", "BEATLES", "BABYFACE", etc. The highest bid was "1 LOVE U" at 1.4 million HKD. In the end the auction generated over 11.25 million HKD.

Broccoli Books has an announced a "never-before published collection of illustrations from Aquarian Age - Juvenile Orion." The artbook, Aquarian Age - Juvenile Orion: Realm of Light Illustration Book, will be released on October 25th.

Broccoli also announced that the release date of KAMUI volume 5 has been pushed back 2 weeks to October 25th.

With this month being Kochi-Kame's 30th year of serialization in Weekly Shounen Jump, Mainichi sits down with the artist of Kochi-Kame and talks about what it's like being the creator of the longest running manga series.

Everyone in Japan knows "Kochi-kame," the shortened nickname of "Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hashutsujo" (This is the police station in front of Kameari Park in Katsushika ward). This September marks the 30th anniversary of Kochi-kame’s serialization in Weekly Shounen Jump, a competitive battlefield of popular manga series. Today Kochi-Kame has 151 volumes in circulation, with over 135 million copies sold.

Also announced was the creation of a Young Adult line for readers of 13+, the first two titles to be released under the YA line will be Surge (November 06) and Zesty (January 07).

ICv2 has posted an article on the recent discovery of edits made to Viz Media's Fullmetal Alchemist manga. According to Viz, changes are made only with the "'approval and input' of the creators".
