PARIS (February 28, 2007) -- On the heels of the recent announcement regarding Hachette Book Group USA's graphic novel imprint Yen Press' first acquisitions comes another exciting announcement from Hachette's parent company Lagardère. Today, Lagardère announces that Hachette Livre is acquiring PIKA, the third largest manga publisher in the French market. The acquisition of PIKA will also contribute to manga businesses across Hachette Livre, including Yen Press.

ICv2 interviews Rich Johnson of Yen Press, who talks about the new publishing enterprise, as well as how it will be handled by himself and Kurt Hassler.

The Hachette Book Group has announced a new young men/adults oriented comic imprint called Yen Press. According to PW, "The imprint will be directed by former DC Comics v-p Rich Johnson, who joined Hachette last month, and Kurt Hassler, formerly the graphic novel buyer for the Borders Group, who will join Yen Press November 27." Kurt Hassler recently ranked No.1 on ICv2's "Ten Most Powerful People in Manga" list.
