Seven Seas has launched the "Are You An Otaku?" contest, where participants send in pictures of their collection to see who has the most "otaku" collection. Grand prize winner will receive "a one of a kind original full color I, Otaku illustration, drawn and signed by series creator Jiro Suzuki; Plus ten (10) of the latest Seven Seas manga, including I, Otaku: Struggle in Akihabara Vol. 1," while 10 runner-ups will received volume 1 of I, Otaku: Struggle in Akihabara.

Anime news and review website Active Anime has announced a new contest:

Win the Chibi Vampire Manga Vol. 1 - 4 and the two volume novels. The manga is rated OT (16+), so contestant should be at least 16 years or older to enter the contest. To participate, send an email to chibi(at)activanime(dot)com with your name and information. One winner will be announced on September 30, 2007. US and Canadian residents only. This month's Sweatdrop podcast is a special event, as each of the four presenters were previously winners of Tokyopop's "Rising Stars of Manga" competition. They talk about how they prepared and planned their comics, and what they went through whilst producing them. They also offer tips and advise for anyone that is entering Rising Stars of Manga or any other short manga competitions. Sweatdrop Studios have been releasing podcasts for a while now, with three previous episodes covering UK events, San Diego Comic Con, and various Sweatdrop Studios members, as well as interviewing UK manga industry personalities such as Helen McCarthy.

LOS ANGELES, CA XX Aug 2007: Manga publisher Go! Comi in association with the New York Anime Festival and TheOtaku.com today announced the first contest devoted to manga fan-comics, known in Japan as doujinshi.

The contest is based on Go! Comi's best-selling manga series "Black Sun, Silver Moon," by Tomo Maeda. The series is the story of the complex relationship between the enigmatic zombie-hunting priest Shikimi and his apprentice Taki, who is destined to kill him.
