Daily Yomiuri Online has published a report on the TV dramatization of the manga Barefoot Gen by Keiji Nakazawa, and how the drama will be aired on August 10th to commemorate the 62nd anniversary of Hiroshima:

Monday will mark the 62nd anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of Hiroshima. So as not to forget what happened in World War II, Fuji TV will air Aug. 10 and 11 from 9 p.m. a two-night special drama, Hadashi no Gen (Barefoot Gen), based on a manga featuring a little boy who survived the atomic bombing.

ANN reports that Sony Music Entertainment will be holding auditions for the two main female leads in the movie based on the manga Pride by Yukari Ichijo:

The manga characters Shio and Moe are aspiring opera singers and competing music college students, so the producers are looking for females between 16 and 25 years old with the desire to become singers (familiarity with the manga is recommended). The deadline for applications and demo samples is August 31.

Currently there's a rumor going around Japanese bulletin boards that Kentaro Yabuki (creator of Black Cat)'s To-LOVE-Ru will be adapted into an anime. However, there are currently no solid evidence that suggests an anime adaptation is in the works.

According to Earl.Box, the popular manga Naisho no Tsubomi by Yuu Yabuuchi will be adapted into an anime next spring.

Naisho no Tsubomi is a sex-ed manga aimed at elementary school students. The manga, with a fifth-grade girl as its protagonist, became extremely popular in Japan and has received many praises.

From Yomiuri Online comes an article looking at how Taiwan is quicker in turning manga into TV dramas than their Japanese counterparts:

Taiwanese broadcasters are now adapting manga popular among girls for use as TV dramas even more quickly than their Japanese TV counterparts. Some of these Taiwan dramas have done well in other Asian countries too, fueling a craze that has left broadcasters in the manga's country of origin in their wake.

According to posts on 2ch, Yusei Matsui's Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro will be adapted into an anime.

From Kadokawa Shoten comes a new magazine called Zoukan Ace A Assault. The 2007 Summer issue will be released on July 10th, and will carry extra chapters (side stories) of popular serializations such as Mirai Nikki, Garei, Fate/stay night and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
