ANN reports that the Canada Border Services Agency has recently banned (PDF) a number of adult anime manga:

The Canada Border Services Agency has ruled in a October-December 2007 list (released this month) that the American re-releases of the hentai anime series Cool Devices and Words Worth (pictured at right) qualify as obscene under subsection 163(8) of Canada's Criminal Code.

From Blazedent comes an interview with Takeshi Miyazawa, a Canadian born comics artist who recently moved to Japan to pursue a career in the Japanese manga market:

BlazedEnt (BE): You left Spider-Man loves Mary Jane to write comics in Japan. How is that going so far? Please give us an update.

Takeshi Miyazawa (TM): That's correct. I moved here at the end of 2006 and spent a year making connections and meeting other artists. It's an important initial step that I made sure to thoroughly cover through 2007. I'm currently working with a writer and providing art while, at the same time, working on personal projects as back up just in case. It's been fun.

ICv2 reports that Canadian publisher Drawn & Quarterly will be releasing the Yoshihiro Tatsumi short stories collection Good-Bye in May of 2008:

The 208-page anthology of stories drawn in 1971 and 1972 provides plenty of examples Tatsumi's gekiga manga. Tatsumi coined the title gekiga (literally "dramatic comics") to describe his seriously intentioned work in reaction to the etymological roots of the word manga, which means "irresponsible pictures."
